‘Fair go’ or the door: Secret Harbour’s new MP sets media ground rules

One Nation’s incoming MP for Secret Harbour has warned he will apply Pauline Hanson’s media ban if he isn’t given a “fair go”.

Speaking to Youth Jam’s Isaac Mulcrone following a landslide election victory in Secret Harbour, Luke Herdegen claimed the ABC, SBS and Youth Jam failed to provide Senator Hanson – the party’s national leader – with a fair opportunity.

“The reason (Pauline Hanson) hasn’t is because those guys didn’t give her a fair go. I think that was pretty clear. While I’m given a fair go, I’ll talk to anybody and once I’m not, I’ll take the same route and I won’t talk to them,” he told Newsflash listeners.

When pressed on what a “fair go” looks like, Herdegen welcomed scrutiny.

“Scrutiny is fair game, but if you’re going to scrutinise one side you certainly need to scrutinise both,” he argued.

He told Mulcrone that Youth Jam would need to ask Senator Hanson directly why she refuses to engage with the state’s only youth media outlet.
